It’s smooooothie morning people!!

I have a slight obsession with homemade smoothies. Possibly because the options are endless when it comes to combinations of fruits, yogurts, veggies, etc. to create delicious and energizing smoothies. Here are two of my staple recipes…I probably make these at least four times a week.

strawberry-banana yogurt smoothie (for one person)

ingredients:

  • about 6 frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen banana slices
  • 1/2 cup greek yogurt (I used Greek Goddess Honey-flavored)
  • 1/2 T ground flax seed
  • little bit of skim milk (only if you like your smoothie more runny. I prefer mine to be really thick, almost like ice-cream, so I omit the milk)

directions:

  1. cut the frozen strawberries into small chunks. (this makes your poor blender’s job easier…)
    *if the strawberries are too frozen to cut, microwave for 8-10 seconds. Don’t let them get too mushy though!!
  2. Add all ingredients into blender and blend until smooth.

strawberry-banana green smoothie 

ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup greek yogurt (again, I used Greek Goddess Honey)
  • 6 frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen banana slices
  • 1/2 T ground flax seed
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
  • LOTS of spinach
    *I used spinach ice-cubes. When my spinach starts to get soggy and gross, I blend it up with a little water and freeze in an ice-cube tray for smoothies!

directions:

  1. Cut the frozen strawberries into small chunks.
  2. Blend everything in a blender until smooth.

green smoothie

This morning for breakfast I made a green smoothie and slapped some scrambled eggs on a “wheat patty” with a little bit of honey and salt/pepper.

Who knew wilty spinach could be so dang delicious??
